Bimba

Bimba Chavan (she/her)

I am a counsellor, Narrative practitioner and a member of the Australian Counselling Association. I hold experience in working with adolescents, young adults and families from diverse multicultural and socio-economic backgrounds in Mumbai and Melbourne. I adopt a culturally sensitive and trauma-focused approach.

In therapeutic conversations, I bring reflections from my lived experiences of migration, and Indian culture. I adopt creative ways of expression to simplify entangled emotions and thoughts. I believe in people being the experts of their own lives and via open dialogue, this expertise can be unpacked and recognised.

In times of uncertainty, we may need a conversation space that enables us to share our most vulnerable thoughts. I offer to hold this enabling space to explore the diverse voices in the room. I am committed to acknowledge and explore the intersectionalities that influence mental health concerns. The hope is to create a conversation space where people find a voice to share their thoughts.

Apart from my clinical practice, I design and develop mental wellbeing interventions for training teams and school communities. I have self-published a doodle journal for wellness informed by Narrative practices.

Bimba speaks English, Hindi and Marathi.
