Smruthy Nair

Smruthy Nair (she/they)

I am a psychologist registered with AHPRA and the proud founder of Unhyphen.

The values most important to me in psychotherapy are best practice principles that are also evidence based, culturally responsive, person-centred, inclusive, and feminist. My work relies on using an anti-oppression and systems focused lens, and I seek to bring this perspective in the areas of community upliftment, policy analysis and practice development.

I love working with young people and adults identifying with diverse cultures, abilities, bodies, and sexualities. I have a particular interest in working with people in cross-cultural contexts, and working through complex and cultural trauma.

While I work with individuals in therapeutic contexts, I also provide consultation to organisations interested in deepening their commitment to equity and inclusion. I provide supervision and peer consultation to registered psychologists and mental health professionals looking to upskill in the areas of trauma treatment and culturally affirming and inclusive practice (supervision hours can be logged as CPD or peer consultation for registered psychologists).

I speak English, Tamil, Malayalam, and Hindi, and when needed bring my language skills into therapy sessions as well.
